Ringenes herre

"I marginally know that Sense and Sensibility is marginally better than Lord of the Rings. I was taught by Tolkien, which really shows how old I am.
He was one of that ghastly group, like C.S. Lewis, of Englishmen with huge trousers and crusty suits and large briar pipes, who hate women. They live in this Prep school world, and Lord of the Rings was just that. So Tolkien decided to write an anglo-saxon epic, and it's awful. It's quite terrible, but because it's a film, Clive Anderson and all his friends vote for it."
